DESCRIPTION: \n\nThe Shield 23 Foundation is cordially inviting you to participate in our first annual Russ Constantino Memorial Bike Ride on Saturday\, September 25th\, 2021.\nThe Shield 23 Foundation was founded in 2018 in memory of 20-year veteran of the Gurnee Fire Department\, Russ Constantino\, who passed away in 2009 from job-related brain cancer. The foundation’s mission is to raise and gift funds to firefighters who battle job-related cancer and the families that stand beside them.\nOur event is designed to raise money to fund our mission as well as raise awareness to the deadly illness that is caused by on-duty conditions and environment. The event will consist of a 23-mile bike ride from the Great Lakes Naval Station in North Chicago to Evanston where we will hold a reception at the Firehouse Grill. The real fundraising will occur before the event where fire departments will compete against each other to raise as much money as possible. The winning departments\, as well as other top fundraisers\, will win a variety of different prizes.\nRegistration is currently open on our website.$100 per personwww.shield23foundation.org\nSign in will open at 9am with our launch set for 10am.\nWe will then ride 23 miles in honor of Russ’ badge number from the Great lakes Navel Station to the Firehouse grill in Evanston. In which we will have a ceremony.
